Over 40 guests representing 24 of the 49 WASCA clubs attended the WASCA 2025 "Duck N Dive" Fundraiser at a 400 acre farm in Boyd's Maryland on Saturday August 17th. In tune with the WASCA 2025 theme there were plenty of duck related attire and souvenirs under the large pavilion. As usual, WASCA Festival President Steve Cunnion and Co-President Pat Marks had all their "Ducks In A Row" (see the photo below) in their organization of this picnic. The WASCA 64th Square and Round Dance Festival of 2025 has started off swimmingly. At The 63rd Festival, 204 people pre-registered at the "Duck & Dive in '25" sign-up table.
The theme incorporates the much loved rubber ducky and the aquatic environment above and below the water. In that vein, the festival will be designed for you to dance in the light hearted atmosphere of rubber ducky fun and adventure.
The new festival location will be at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel at 13869 Park Center Road, Herndon VA. Hotel registration will be done directly with a special link for WASCA reservations at this link. Hotel rooms will be $139/night, with yes, FREE PARKING. The festival has no food minimum so there will be no need to eat at the Hilton, but if you do, you will receive a 10% discount on all meals. Within a 5 mile radius, there are many restaurants available for your pleasure, maybe even a Vietnamese restaurant featuring duck soup! The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, metro and the Aerospace Museum.
The WASCA 2025 registration form is on the "Duck and Dive in '25" flyer and can be downloaded from the Flyer link above. The registration fee is $100, payable by card card or check.
The festival is built on the concept of community and the mayors (co-directors) are Steve Cunnion, Pat Marks, Fayette and Andy Stewart. The Chief of Staff is Maggie Ciotti. Registration will be handled by Linda and Steve Toth aided by Nancy and Tom Stafford.
"Duck and Dive in '25" theme dances will start in September so start looking for your Rubber Ducky shirts and other fun stuff associated with bathtubs to scuba diving. Please, no water pistols/guns/balloons allowed at the dances. Another water-filled fund-raising event will occur earlier so you can empty your wallets and water-held equipment then.
